Art Speaks
This body of work takes painted self-portraiture and photography and brings them together. Self-portrait photographs printed on tissue-thin paper are layered into the painted form. They are bringing a sense of aging skin and humanness to an otherwise two-dimensional surface.
With specific attention to cropped features, this work speaks to being silent yet conveying feeling through a look or a gaze.
