The word liminal describes a state, place, or condition of transition physiologically or psychologically between two places. In essence, it’s what exists in the middle.
This body of work sits between photography and painting. Amid a life transition, the self exists in form externally while also embodying internal shifts and changes. In this case, it is myself that is represented.
This work is an autobiographical self-portrait journey depicted visually in both painted and photographed form, layered within photographic scenes of place. Each one tells a story within itself and within myself.
